Following our 32-year commitment to community activities, scholarships and uplifting the lifestyle of the less privileged, the Foundation is working with several sources in Ukraine following the February 24th brutal invasion by Russia. On the ground, feeding, nourishing and caring for seven million Ukrainians who have fled to bordering countries, as well as supplying economic resources to World Central Kitchen and UNICEF, is succeeding through our $250,000 pledge to match funds contributed to www.leesfieldfoundation.org
Your generous donations, thus far, have allowed World Central Kitchen to serve over 8 million meals since February 24th, through 330 feeding sites. When we receive your donations, we immediately match the funds and wire the support throughout the country.
Please help us assist the deserving, democratic and courageous people of the Ukraine!
HONORS AND DEDICATIONS
Our recent efforts have not distracted us from our ongoing commitment to The Melissa Institute for Violence Prevention (in honor of Kenneth Bloom), Fatherhood Task Force of South Florida, (in support of Holly Zwerling), or the Miami Jewish Health in memory of Steve Cypen.
Of course, our pledge to Baptist Health South Florida continues as we contribute in recognition of the fine work of Dr. Michael Zinner, CEO and Executive Medical Director at Miami Cancer Institute. His “Bounce Back from Cancer” message remains important to us and encourages our support.
SCHOLARSHIPS CONTINUE
In addition to the organizations just mentioned, which have received grants and recognition, we continue with our scholarship program awarding Deja Gordon, a third year law student at Stetson University College of Law, with the MDFAWL Foundation Sookie Williams Award.
In July 2022, during the American Association for Justice Annual Convention to be held in Seattle, we will also be recognizing our 33rd recipient of the Leesfield/AAJ Law Student Scholarship. Scholarship opportunities remain open and have been endowed for the Leesfield/AAJ Law Student Scholarship through 2030. Please encourage law school students to apply.
We are a small foundation, with a big heart. 100% of all contributions are donated to those in need. Many thanks to the hundreds of contributors who have raised significant amounts for the urgent needs of all recipients, and allowing lifesaving efforts in Ukraine.
A very special thanks to the law firm of Leesfield Scolaro, P.A., one of South Florida’s most established personal injury law firms, who has made generous personal and in-kind contributions through its Staff and Administrative Office. Well-deserved recognition to Carmen Marrero who spearheads these efforts. She can be reached at marrero@leesfield.com or 305-854-4900. Ira Leesfield, Chair can be reached at leesfield@leesfield.com or 305-854-4900. We both look forward to your continued support through the Foundation at www.leesfieldfoundation.org
