Denver, CO, July 10, 2018 – The Leesfield/AAJ Law Student Scholarship Program began in 1994 with a grant to law student Althea T. Kippes, now an active AAJ member. Endowed through 2020, LFF has proudly recognized 27 outstanding recipients. The scholarship is awarded every year at AAJ’s annual convention to law student members on the basis of financial need, academic merit and community service, and one who exemplifies a high commitment to trial advocacy and the preservation of the civil justice system.
Chair Ira Leesfield recognized the 2018 recipient of the scholarship, Allison Takacs, during the American Association for Justice Annual Convention held in Denver, Colorado. Allison recently completed her second year law student at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law. She has been recognized with the Provost’s Scholarship and joined the National Trial Team, competing at the AAJ trial tournament in Golden, Colorado, where her team took second place. She worked as a judicial
intern with Chief Judge Michael Martinez of the 2nd Judicial District Court in Denver. Her affiliations include the Women’s Coalition where she serves as Secretary and the Health Law Society where she serves as Vice President. She is a dedicated law student and has a passion to contribute to the well-being of her community and protecting the rights of victims of negligence. We congratulate Allison for her remarkable accomplishments and wish her continued success in her legal career.
