The Florida Association of Women Lawyers (Miami-Dade Chapter) presented Ira Leesfield with the Miami-Dade FAWL Philanthropist Award. Miami-Dade FAWL honored Ira Leesfield for his long-standing commitment to support rising female law students through scholarship donations. For the past 18 years, the Leesfield Family Foundation has supported the Miami-Dade Chapter of FAWL by sponsoring annual law student scholarships to minority law students who demonstrate a high commitment to trial advocacy and public justice. FAWL is a professional organization dedicated to promoting the advancement of women in the legal profession. Its membership is comprised of lawyers, judges and professionals within the business community. The Leesfield Family Foundation is credited as being the first law firm affiliate to fund a FAWL scholarship. Katie Phang, FAWL Director, (pictured) presented the Philanthropist Award to Ira Leesfield at FAWL’s 31st Annual Judicial Reception and Holiday Celebration on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Epic Hotel, in Miami. Ms. Phang, a very successful trial lawyer in Miami, was the 1999 recipient of the Leesfield Family Foundation Scholarship.
