Ira Leesfield was presented with the Citation of Honor award by the Fatherhood Task Force of South Florida for his commitment and involvement to encourage schools across Florida to participate in “Fathers in Education Day.”
The award was presented as part of the organization’s annual Town Hall Meeting “Building Successful Families: Involving Fathers,” held at the University of Miami’s Alumni Center on May 17, 2014 to pay tribute to local fathers and male role models. This year, 31 fathers were honored for their outstanding involvement in their children’s lives. Advocates for fathers spoke at the event, including keynote speaker, Etan Thomas, former NBA Player and author of Fatherhood: Rising to the Ultimate Challenge. “The Leesfield Family Foundation recognizes the impact a father can have on a child’s life and it is important for our community and school system to be instrumental in promoting the active involvement of fathers in children’s lives from the time they are born. We congratulate Holly Zwerling, CEO, the Board of Directors and Advisory Committee of Fatherhood Task Force for a very successful event and for their important work in educating and guiding fathers and male role models in our South Florida community,” said Ira Leesfield.
